The fastest way to judge an SEO agency in Turkey is to look at method, not promises: an agency that explains its plan step by step, opens its reports to raw data and refuses to say "guaranteed" is almost always the better choice. Eight questions expose the difference in the first meeting.
1. "Do you guarantee first position?"
The correct answer is no. Google ranks with hundreds of signals, partly personalized; nobody can guarantee someone else's algorithm. Agencies that promise it either target worthless keywords or plan risky shortcuts that end in penalties.
2. "Where do your links come from?"
"We have partner sites, we place N links monthly" is an alarm bell — bulk purchased links violate Google's spam policy, and Turkish link farms are especially cheap and toxic. The healthy answer mentions few, relevant, earned links.
3. "What exactly will I see in reports?"
A monthly PDF saying "all good" is not reporting. You should see per-keyword ranking changes, organic traffic and conversions, in a dashboard you can open any day. We give clients live accounts on our own SEO panel where rankings are measured automatically every night — a report should be an always-on gauge, not monthly news.
4. "What happens in the first three months?"
Expect specifics: technical audit and fixes, keyword research, a content calendar, internal linking. Vague "we optimize" answers predict vague work. A good agency will already name a few of your site's obvious problems in the first call — because they looked before coming.
5. "When do results arrive?"
The honest band is 3–6 months, longer in competitive niches. "We explode in month one" means they are either talking about ads or telling stories. The reasons are covered in how long SEO takes in Turkey.
6. "Who writes the content?"
If content is bulk-bought or fully automated, your brand voice disappears and quality updates erode it. Ask for a process where drafts come to you for approval and the writers learn your industry.
7. "How long does the contract bind me?"
Asking for 6+ months is fair given how SEO works; the problem is long contracts without exit clauses. Reasonable: a performance review after month three with penalty-free exit conditions. A confident agency will not resist this.
8. "How does your own site rank?"
If the agency's own site is invisible for agency keywords and its blog died two years ago, they do not practice what they sell. Ask us the same question — our SEO service page and this blog are the answer.
Deciding
Interview three agencies, ask all eight questions, compare side by side. Price differences are usually scope differences; picking the cheapest without pinning the scope is the most expensive decision. For agency selection beyond SEO, see choosing a digital agency in Turkey.
